About Storz & Bickel

What is Storz & Bickel?

Storz & Bickel was founded by Markus Storz and Jürgen Bickel. Storz built the first Volcano prototype in 1996, a desktop vaporizer that heats with hot air, and Bickel joined as a partner. In 2002 it became a company of its own, based in Tuttlingen in southern Germany.

The Volcano became the brand’s breakthrough and is available today as the Volcano Classic and Volcano Hybrid. The portable Mighty and Crafty followed in 2014, and in 2023 came the Venty, the first completely new model in almost ten years. The smallest in the range, the Veazy, arrived in 2025.

The company has more than 170 employees in Tuttlingen and has been part of the Canadian group Canopy Growth since 2018.

Which Storz & Bickel suits you?

Volcano Hybrid

The desktop model for home. Works with a balloon or a tube and has the widest temperature span of all the models.

Mighty+

The robust portable with two batteries, a display and charging while in use.

Venty

The newest of the larger portables, launched in 2023. Heats up in about 20 seconds and has adjustable airflow.

How Storz & Bickel heats

Pure convection

Only the air is heated and then passes through the material. This is how the Volcano Classic works, the model that started the brand.

Convection and conduction

Storz & Bickel’s patented combination heats both the air and the filling chamber. It is used in the Volcano Hybrid and all the portable models.

Booster and Superbooster

The portable models have two presets that raise the set temperature by 15°C at the touch of a button.

Questions about Storz & Bickel

Short answers to what customers ask us most

Who founded Storz & Bickel?

Markus Storz and Jürgen Bickel. Storz built the first Volcano prototype in 1996, and Bickel joined as a partner.

The Volcano desktop model and the portable Mighty and Crafty, which came out in 2014. The Venty and the small Veazy have been added since.

The Classic uses pure convection, has nine fixed levels from 130 to 230°C and fills a balloon. The Hybrid combines convection and conduction, can be set from 40 to 230°C, heats up in about 40 seconds and works with both balloon and tube.

Both use the same hybrid heating and go from 40 to 210°C. The Mighty+ is larger, has two batteries and a display and can be used while charging. The Crafty+ weighs 135 g and is controlled with one button or the S&B app.

It depends on where you will use it. The Volcano Hybrid is the desktop model, the Mighty+ and Venty are the most capable portables, and the Veazy and Crafty+ are the smallest.

The company has its head office, development and production in Tuttlingen, Germany, and most of the components come from German suppliers.

Since 2018, Storz & Bickel has been part of the Canadian group Canopy Growth.
