Terpenes from Nordic Terpenes
Nordic Terpenes is our own terpene brand. We developed it together with Generalens Hampa, and the idea is simple: to capture what makes a strain recognisable and put it in a small bottle.
Each profile is built from individual terpenes such as myrcene, limonene, pinene and beta-caryophyllene, together with natural and artificial flavourings. These are called botanical terpenes. The aroma is clean and distinct, and it stays the same from batch to batch.
The type on the bottle, such as indica or sativa, shows which strain the profile is inspired by. It describes the aroma and nothing else.

How terpenes work
Terpenes are aromatic compounds produced by plants. They are found in citrus peel, pine needles, spices and flowers, and they are largely what makes a lemon smell like lemon and a pine forest smell like pine.
Cannabis and hemp produce terpenes too, and they are the main reason each strain has its own aroma. Which terpenes a plant produces, and how much of each, is largely down to its genetics. That is why Jack Herer smells of pine and citrus while Wedding Cake is sweet and herbal.
Terpenes are not the same as cannabinoids. CBD and THC belong to a different group of compounds, and the terpene profiles in our shop contain no cannabinoids at all.

The terpenes behind the profiles
Myrcene, limonene and more, and where they occur in nature
Myrcene
One of the most common terpenes in cannabis. Also found in hops, mango and lemongrass. The aroma is earthy and musky with a hint of ripe fruit.
Limonene
Found in the peel of lemons, oranges and other citrus fruits. Gives a fresh, tangy aroma.
Pinene
Gives pine and fir trees their scent and is also found in rosemary and basil. Fresh and resinous.
Beta-caryophyllene
Responsible for the sharp note in black pepper and also found in cloves. Peppery and spicy.
Linalool
Found in lavender and coriander. The aroma is floral and slightly sweet.
Terpinolene
Found in lilac, nutmeg and apples, among others. Fresh and floral with a herbal note.

What is the difference between botanical terpenes and CDT?
Botanical terpenes, like Nordic Terpenes, are built from individual terpenes to resemble a strain. CDT, cannabis derived terpenes, are extracted directly from cannabis or hemp. The aroma is more complex but varies more from harvest to harvest.
What do indica, sativa and hybrid mean?
They show which type of cannabis strain the profile is inspired by. They describe the aroma, not any effect.
How big is the bottle?
All profiles come in 5 ml bottles with a dropper cap.
How should terpenes be stored?
In the dark, at room temperature and with the cap tightly closed. That way the aroma lasts longer.
