For the third year running, we’re packing the bags and heading down to Törringelund. Hampafestivalen, June 25-27 in Svedala, is the only place in Sweden where the reggae concert, the hemp expo and the lectures share the same field. We love that mix, and we want to bring you along.
Sweden's Greenest Festival
Törringelund nature reserve sits about fifteen minutes south of Malmö. Few festival grounds in the Nordics can match it. The forest gives shade, the grass is soft, and the air smells the way it should smell in late June. The festival calls itself “Sweden’s most beautiful and greenest festival”, and that’s not just a slogan.
Hampafestivalen rests on four pillars: Music, Food, Knowledge and Culture. The Main Stage runs the live bands, Soundstage keeps the sound systems and DJs going after sundown, and the Rotunda hosts lectures and workshops about hemp: cultivation, history, materials, chemistry. It’s a festival that takes the plant seriously without forgetting to have fun.
The 2026 Lineup: Bigger Than Ever
This is the strongest lineup yet. The organisers promise more international names and more Swedish artists than in any previous year. Hard to argue.
Alborosie
Few careers in reggae history are as unlikely as Alberto D’Ascola’s. As a teenager he played in an italo-reggae band in Marsala, Sicily. Then he flew to Kingston in 2001, learned sound engineering from the ground up, and took a new name: Alborosie. In 2011 he won the MOBO Award for Best Reggae Act, the first non-Black artist to do so. Dual citizen of Italy and Jamaica, and one of the most respected voices in roots reggae right now.
Hempress Sativa
Kerida Shushana Johnson grew up in Papine, Jamaica, in a Rastafarian family deep in sound system culture. She performed for the first time at 13 at a Twelve Tribes of Israel showcase and never stopped. Her debut album Unconquerebel (2017) hit number one on the Global Reggae Charts. Her work with producer Paolo Baldini has given her a sharper edge and broader international reach.
Stylo G
Jason Andre McDermott was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica in 1985. As a teenager his family moved to London. He brought the Jamaican with him and mixed it with the British, dancehall, grime, urban, and the result landed on the UK Singles Chart with “Soundbwoy” in 2013. An artist who moves between genres with no friction and still delivers live.
Syster Sol
Isabel Sandblom is one of Swedish reggae’s veterans. The Stockholm-based artist started the band Livelihood, went solo in 2009, and has built one of the country’s strongest reggae catalogues. Won Best Reggae/Dancehall at Kingsizegalan 2014. At Hampafestivalen, she’s in her element.
Linda Pira
Linda Pira Giraldo went to Fryshuset, rapped her way to a Grammis nomination for Best Newcomer 2013, and has since made herself a reliable name in Swedish hip-hop. Right artist, right stage.
Also on stage: General Knas, Näääk, Helt Off, Antonio D
The Swedish lineup is proof that the festival knows what it wants to be: a meeting between Jamaican and Scandinavian music culture, on a field in Skåne.
