If you’ve ever rolled with a standard paper filter, you know the problems – warm smoke, a bit harsh, and you’re not filtering out much. Activated carbon filters solve most of that, and Purize is one of the better brands doing it.
We’ve just restocked and expanded our Purize range significantly. Here’s a proper breakdown of what’s available, how the filters actually work, and which size fits your setup.
Why we carry Purize
We don’t stock products just to fill out a catalogue. Purize is a German brand that genuinely cares about what they make – they’ve built their filters around proper materials, proper manufacturing, and a real understanding of what people actually want from a filter. No shortcuts, no cheap plastic, made in their own factory.
That attitude isn’t too different from how we think about our own products. When we come across a brand that takes quality seriously and is clearly passionate about the cannabis space, it’s an easy decision to work with them.
How activated carbon filters work
Regular paper filters don’t filter anything. They keep the joint open and stop tobacco or herb from getting in your mouth, but that’s about it. Activated carbon is different – it’s a porous material that traps toxins, tar, and other combustion byproducts as the smoke passes through.
Purize uses coconut shell-derived activated carbon, which is more porous than the coal-based carbon you’ll find in cheaper filters. More surface area means more filtration. The result is smoke that’s noticeably cooler, drier, and smoother – without losing the flavor of what you’re smoking. Activated carbon is selective in what it absorbs, which is why the taste comes through while potentially harmful substances don’t.
The other thing that sets Purize apart is the ceramic tips. Most activated carbon filters use plastic caps, which can soften from the heat and affect the draw. Purize’s ceramic tips handle heat properly and don’t add anything to the smoke. They also let you insert the filter in either direction, which is a small thing but one less thing to think about when you’re rolling.
All Purize filters are made in Germany in their own factory, and the whole thing is plastic-free.
Which size do you need?
Getting the size right matters. Too narrow and the draw will be too tight, too wide and the filter won’t sit properly in the roll.
XTRA Slim (ø 5.9mm) – the right choice for standard slim papers like RAW Slim, OCB Slim or similar. This is the most commonly used size and what most people start with. The filter is 27mm long, which gives a good amount of activated carbon without making the roll too short.
Regular (ø 8.9mm) – a wider filter that works with both standard rolling papers and wider formats. More activated carbon than XTRA Slim.
BIG Size 7 (ø 14mm) – for rolling a really big joint, especially when you’re sharing with others. Needs wider paper to work properly. Seven per pack.

Purize XTRA Slim
Our most popular filter, now restocked. This is the one to start with if you haven’t used activated carbon filters before – it fits the papers most people already use and the difference compared to a paper filter is immediately noticeable.
Purize Regular - White, Pink, Organic
We’ve added three Regular Size options to the range. All three are identical in specs – ø 8.9mm, 35.7mm long, coconut activated carbon, ceramic tips. The only difference between them is the color. These work fine with standard rolling papers as well as wider formats.
Purize BIG Size 7
New in. Fourteen millimetres wide and 40mm long – this is the filter for when you’re rolling a proper big joint to share with others. Needs wider paper to work properly. Seven per pack.
Purize Prerolled Cones XTRA Slim - 50 pack
109mm unbleached cones with a built-in XTRA Slim activated carbon filter already fitted. The paper is chlorine-free plant fiber at 14g/m², which is thin enough that you barely notice it – minimal paper taste, burns evenly.
The 50-pack is a good option if you use cones regularly or want to stock up. No separate filter to buy, no rolling required – just fill, pack lightly and you’re done.

Cones vs rolling yourself
If you can roll well, doing it yourself gives you more control over the pack and the density. But prerolled cones work really well when you want the same result every time – same shape, same filter already in place. Handy if you’re in a hurry, or if you simply can’t roll to save your life.
The short answer is that it comes down to preference. Both options use the same activated carbon filter – the smoke experience is essentially the same either way.
A few practical notes
Purize filters work best when the joint isn’t packed too tight. If the draw feels blocked, the issue is usually the herb rather than the filter. The ceramic tips mean you don’t need to worry about which end goes in first, but make sure the filter sits flush with the paper before you twist or fold the end.
For storage, keep them in the resealable bag they come in. Activated carbon will absorb moisture and odors from the air if left out, which reduces how effective the filter is over time.
