Cannafest 2025 in Prague turned out to be one of our most rewarding trips so far. The fair took place for the fifteenth year in a row and has grown into one of Europe’s most important meeting places for the hemp and cannabis industry. At the same time, Czechia was preparing for a reform due to take effect on 1 January 2026, strengthening the country’s role as a hub for both hemp and THC-related production.
Update 2026: The new law came into force on 1 January 2026 as planned. Adults over 21 may now grow up to three plants at home and keep up to 100 grams of dried cannabis in their residence. Sales are still not allowed. The next Cannafest takes place from 6 to 8 November 2026 at PVA Expo Praha Letňany.

Cannafest 2025: a broad fair for the whole industry
Cannafest brings together everyone from home growers and enthusiasts to business owners, researchers and curious visitors. According to the organisers, visitors regularly come from more than 80 countries, and in the record year of 2019 the fair drew over 31,000 visitors and almost 300 exhibitors from 27 countries.
Unlike many niche fairs, Cannafest covers a wide range of topics. Here you will find:
- Growing equipment: LED lights, climate control, grow tents, substrates and automated systems.
- Seed banks: from well-known European breeders to smaller players working on new crosses and terpene-rich strains.
- Hemp and cannabis products: flowers, extracts, hash, terpenes and different kinds of processing.
- Technology: vaporizers, dabbing devices, measuring instruments and lab equipment.
- Accessories: rolling papers, filters, grinders, glass and storage.
Partnerships and networking
For us, the weekend was full of productive meetings. We met several of our suppliers, including Purize and several of our growers, and talked about upcoming news. We also made new contacts in accessories, terpenes and future flower production.
Many of the products on show at the fair are already in our range. Since then we have added, among other things, dabbing devices from Puffco and manual vaporizers from Dynavap. You can find them among our vaporizers.
Prague as a new hub for growing and production
After Italy banned the trade in flowers from industrial hemp in 2025, several producers moved parts of their operations to Czechia. Several of our own Italian growers now send their plants there to be trimmed and finished. You can read more in our article on Italy’s CBD ban.
Prague has therefore become a magnet for growers who want more stable rules, seed banks looking for a more open market, laboratories investing in testing and extraction, and distributors aiming for Central Europe. We only sell legal hemp products ourselves, but these developments affect the whole industry.
Czechia’s new law in 2026: what applies
On 1 January 2026, Czechia’s new cannabis rules came into force. They apply to adults aged 21 and over and allow them to:
- grow up to three plants at their permanent residence
- keep up to 100 grams of dried cannabis at home
- carry up to 25 grams in public
This is not a system with shops or coffeeshops. Sales are still prohibited, and larger amounts can lead to fines or criminal penalties. Cannabis clubs are not allowed at present, although according to Czech media, policymakers have mentioned they could come up for discussion in 2027 or 2028 at the earliest. The reform is nevertheless a big step towards clearer rules for private use.
What does it mean for the CBD market?
Even though the change mainly concerns THC, it affects the whole industry around the plant. When the rules are stable and predictable, it becomes easier to invest in quality, processing, product development and serious cultivation. That also benefits the laboratories and growers who work with legal hemp and CBD.
Czechia and Germany are driving change
Cannafest confirmed what we had already noticed: Czechia is becoming one of Europe’s most important places for hemp and cannabis.
