Platinum OG: a CBD vape with CBN for the evening

Platinum OG is our evening vape. It combines CBD with a high share of CBN, and its aroma is inspired by the classic cannabis strain of the same name: woody, skunky and with a sweet finish. Here we look at what Platinum OG contains, what research says about CBN and sleep, how the terpenes work together with the cannabinoids and how to choose between a cartridge and a disposable.

What is Platinum OG?

The name comes from a well-known cannabis strain. Platinum OG is an indica-dominant hybrid said to descend from Master Kush, OG Kush and a third parent that has never been confirmed. The strain is known for its frosty buds and an earthy, woody aroma with notes of pine.

Our vape contains no THC and is therefore not made from the strain itself. What we have taken from it is the aroma profile, recreated with terpenes, and the calm evening character that indica strains are often associated with. What does Platinum OG contain?

The base is a hemp extract in which four cannabinoids make up most of the content. CBD accounts for 45 percent and CBN for 13 percent, with a further 4 percent CBC and 1.5 percent CBG. In total the extract contains over 70 percent cannabinoids, and most of the rest is terpenes.

Platinum OG contains no PG, VG or MCT oil, which are otherwise often used to thin vape oils. This gives a cleaner taste and a higher concentration, but it also means the vapour is thinner than in vapes with PG or VG. It is therefore normal to see smaller clouds.

CBN and sleep: what does the research say?

CBN, cannabinol, forms when THC breaks down over time, for example when cannabis is stored for a long time and exposed to oxygen and light. CBN acts on the same receptors as THC but is considerably weaker, and in animal studies several times higher doses were needed to produce similar effects.

Interest in CBN is mainly about sleep. In an American study from 2023, 293 adults with sleep problems took 20 mg of CBN, CBN together with CBD, or a placebo every evening for a week. The group that took CBN alone woke up fewer times during the night and reported less sleep disturbance than the placebo group. In a larger study from 2024 with over 1,000 participants, capsules with CBN gave a similar improvement in sleep to 4 mg of melatonin. An animal study from the same year showed that CBN lengthened sleep in rats.

The research is promising but still young, and the studies in humans have used capsules rather than vapes. How CBN affects sleep when inhaled has not yet been studied. Platinum OG is therefore not a sleep medicine, but many of our customers choose it in the evening when they want to wind down. The entourage effect: why the whole matters

Platinum OG is made for cannabinoids and terpenes to work together. The theory of the entourage effect holds that the plant’s compounds reinforce and balance each other, so that the whole does more than the individual parts. That is one reason why we combine CBD and CBN with CBC, CBG and a rich terpene profile instead of using a single isolated cannabinoid.

Terpenes do more than add aroma. According to a study in PNAS, beta-caryophyllene, which is found in Platinum OG, binds to the body’s CB2 receptor, the same receptor that several cannabinoids act on. It is one example of how terpenes and cannabinoids can interact.

Terpene profile and flavour

The terpene profile was developed together with Nordic Terpenes from Sweden, who specialise in terpene profiles with the aroma of classic cannabis strains. The main terpenes in Platinum OG are:

• Myrcene is the most common terpene in cannabis and has an earthy, musky aroma.
• Beta-caryophyllene adds a spicy and peppery note.
• Ocimene brings sweet and herbal notes.
• Alpha-pinene and beta-pinene give the scent of pine and conifer forest.
• D-limonene adds a fresh citrus nuance.
• Linalool has a floral note that is also found in lavender.

Together they give a woody and skunky base with hints of pine, rounded off with a soft, candy-like sweetness. Cartridge or disposable?

Platinum OG comes in two versions with the same content:

• 1 ml cartridge that screws onto a 510-thread battery, for example the CCell M3 Plus from our shop. The battery is rechargeable and reusable, so you only replace the cartridge when it is empty.
• 1 ml disposable that is ready to use straight out of the pack and lasts for around 400 puffs.

The cartridge suits you if you vape regularly and already have a battery, while the disposable is the easiest option if you want to try it or have something handy to take with you. Whichever version you choose, it works best to draw slowly and evenly. Because the oil contains no PG or VG, the vapour is thinner, and a draw that is too hard can feel harsh in the throat.

Storage

Store Platinum OG in a cool, dark place, preferably upright, so the flavour and cannabinoids last longer. The product is not intended for children or pregnant women and should be kept out of reach of children.
